I would like to use this space for those of us that are in need of some tech help that I know is grade school stuff for others. I would like to see people post their questions for help or needs for online related materials (how to start your official web site, get rolling with google, graphic design, etc)

I'll kick it off....I would like to know how to add an actual signature and pictures of my companie's logo in my outgoing emails. When I send someone a message I want it to look like its coming from a multi-million dollar company with a full time IT guy setting it up for me. Any thoughts, tricks?

I've got a tech question--why when we upload .jpeg pictures to Groups on Ning, why do they always zoom in on the picture?

Why do some pictures work and some pictures zoom in way too much? Also happens on Ustream and Twitter profile pix.

Chris, which e-mail program do you use? Outlook? Thunderbird? The steps are slightly different for each.

And Matt, as far as the pictures go... I'd venture a guess that these sites use technology that try to automatically recognize the focal points of a picture (i.e., a face). Sometimes, it fails, leaving the picture zoomed in father than it should. This is pure speculation of course, but I know this kind of tech exists, is in use, and is not 100% foolproof.

Dear Chris,

One of the more popular ways of sending e-mails is using html formating. Most mail clients support html emails with images and styling. What I am posting now is an example of an html email message. Notice that there are options for forwarding emails, unsubscribing etc, if your looking to provide an email news letter at one point this will come in handy.

Hi Matt,

Not sure if you've heard of gravatar. They were actually just bought by wordpress and are compatible with a bunch of other blogging sites. It is an easy service and way for you to use the same avatar online across multiple sites.

These sites can automatically detect whether you use gravatar or not when you leave a comment automatically inserts your desired photo. Hope that service helps. Other than that, I agree with Robert. Each site is designed different and might use different tools or methods to upload and insert photos.

Regards,

Greg Smith
