Lifestyle magazine for young entrepreneurs network

Hey All-

I stumbled upon this article written by Robert Kiyosaki from Entrepreneur Magazine online. It caught my eye because lately I've been seeking a lot of feedback and have been receiving both positive and negative. When getting negative feedback, I sometimes feel like I'm getting slapped in the face; but then I step back and analyze the situation. Why would this person be telling me this if I didn't have to change? As I receive negative and positive feedback, I try to use both for personal growth. For me, negative feedback is a wake-up call to recognize my flaws and attempt to fix them. Making that mistake again proves that you didn't learn your lesson. Through feedback, I'm training myself to be a better listener. Instead of doing all of the talking and anxiously waiting until a person is finished speaking to throw my two cents in, I'm pledging to take a step back, LISTEN, and then offer advice. (Huge difference between LISTENING and HEARING!!) These small self-improvements over time will hopefully make for a well-rounded, open-minded, respected leader.

I agree with your post here. One of my biggest leadership lessons was letting your team make decisions themselves, so they get behind it and see the vision instead of being a tyrant and saying "this is what were doing, do it".

If you LISTEN and sit back and let them lead the discussion and only intervene when neccessary you'll be big results.

Your absolutly right, many people think that they are being a part of a conversation when in reality they are just waiting there turn to speak instead of engaging in the intellectual element of it. Deeper meanings and more truthful information can be drawn from something when a person steps back and just absorbs it all.
