Under30CEO

Developing, Inspiring and Leading Young Entrepreneurs

The concept is simple: http://milliondollarhomepage.com/ sold ad space by the pixel, now http://bigdaybillboard.com/ sells ad space by the second.

I would VERY much like to hear from anyone on what can be done to improve the site and why the idea is brilliant, or even why the idea sux.

You've got a reply. You can disregard the question about traffic and whatnot as of now.

None and zero. That's why the blog post here. If we can get traffic to a certain point, then it becomes a news story that people are paying to advertise on a site that essentially does nothing except show the ads, and I think with a lot of help it will snow ball from there.

I actually just had an awesome idea which I'm going to email you about now cuz I don't want it public here. Check you're inbox!

Sounds like a plan, I'll send you an email sometime later in the week since I'm playing catchup with papers for school right now and a tad bit overwhelmed to say the least.

Out of curiosity, how many advertisers do you have and how much traffic are you generating?

I will gladly give you a few free seconds worth! Send me your info / ad and I'll give you 15 seconds worth! I can also make sure your ad is the first one that appears for the next few weeks at least as long as it doesn't conflict with existing advertisers.

And thanks for the Paypal heads up!

Oh wait thats yours? I'd have been much nicer... lol

I'm with you on the insurance policy thing, it;d probably be easier to just spend the money and have it on a few backup servers.

But it also may be that your paypal button is broken...

Maybe you should give me a few seconds worth and anyone else on here a few seconds worth, we post it in blogs twitter fb etc and give you some free marketing!

I did say that the first $1,000 the site earned would go to charity in my launch email. I wasn't too woried about the insurance policy - wouldn't it just be cheaper to pay 3 or 5 different hosting companies the 10 years hosting in advance? The chances of my insurance company going bust are probably higher than 5 seperate reputable hosting companies all going bust.

One other thing that milliondollarhomepage.com had was a cool story. I didn't create a cool spin on why I was doing it.

What do you mean by 'the sites'?

I would have to say the idea is brilliant, even more brilliant is that it worked, hopefully he managed to get some super swanky socks. The second idea I doubt will work due to the premium being too high at a minimum of $150 for 10 seconds a day and it being a copy cat idea.

I think the main genius of the first idea is that it was unique and he did a good job marketing it and creating hype

To improve it? These days half of the money or some portion would have to go to charity. The second thing would be some insurance policy that the site does stay up for the time specified because if it doesn't you're getting sued.

What is your opinion on the sites?
