Hey Tyler, how have you been?!
I know, I have no excuse, but I am on here now! I know you have been talking to Catherine about our ISU CEO chapter, this semester is going good so far! It is really cool being a part of the growth and shaping of our chapter.
What are your plans after graduation?

Tyler,

I just moved back to CT this week! I don't use this site too much because I prefer Facebook, but hey, let's get together soon!

I just went through another sales training program - probably the best I've done so far. It's called PSS (Professional Selling Skills) Training (by Achieve Global).

If you find a company that will put you through this training, the experience is definitely worth it.

Has there been a Cornelia spotting this semester? Can I get her number? Can you get her on the network?

Thanks Tyler! I'm glad you liked the site. The idea was actually my friend Andrew's, and he asked me to help him get it started. So we've been working on the whole concept for over a year now, but just launched the first issue of the magazine a few weeks ago. We both always wanted to start our own company, and have an interest in health and fitness, so it all just worked out.

How did you come up with the idea for Under30?? And are you working on any other exciting projects right now?

By this time next year, we expect to be in the middle of the conversation. We are really making an effort to increase our social media presence. By becoming a part of the conversation, we can establish ourselves as a market leader. We are doing so pretty cool marketing programs this year so we also expect our brand to begin taking hold. Internally, I expect to build out our customer experience department and warehouse staff as we expect volume to increase significantly.

Business is great. We are right in the middle of a move in a new distribution facility that gives us 10,000 sq ft of space. That is more than double what we were in before, and we outgrew this place in a year. We are still growing, despite the economy. Can't complain...

Definitely keep me updated and let me know if you have any questions along the way - I'll help out if I can.

A note on detailing: It's almost as once you're in it - you're never out of it.

I think it is first, what you guys talked about. Content. From there, it is just like any other business. What is going to separate your community from others? What are you selling? It is a matter of figuring that out and promoting the hell out of it. If you build a community everyone loves, you will have a group of energized member going out and doing the promotion for you.

In my case I started with a smaller company. You become much more "involved" with their main product and the atmosphere is much different than the big corps. However, I gained most of my sales knowledge from the larger corporations that have the money to put in place extensive training programs. Aside from the training on the products your selling, the overall sales training is something you can take with you everywhere. Go for something that truly interests you - if you're not happy with who you work for and what you sell, you're not doing anyone any favors... including yourself.

I also owned an auto detailing shop - for about 2 years and now just keep up with the friends and family that still call me every year. It's really not that bad of a gig.

Thank you! I am free in the evenings after 5 and anytime really during the weekend. It'd be great to discuss with you starting a Chapter on campus!
